Who is eligible for Ontario Works?

To be eligible for Ontario Works, your client will need to:

• Live in Ontario
• Be in financial need
• Be willing to make reasonable efforts to find, prepare for and keep a job

The specific amount of financial assistance provided to someone will depend on their individual circumstances, including things like their income, assets, housing costs, etc. If the recipient has a spouse and/or children/dependants, they can also receive support on their behalf, and this will be taken into consideration when calculating how much money someone can get from Ontario Works.
